Howdy, it’s me again.
The thing we are writing about today is a simple drink that feels like a great way to start your day.
It has been said this drink stimulates digestion, and may simulate digestive fluids. It makes me feel warm and powered up to take on the day. Especially during cold winter months.
In addition, it may be good to drink warm lemon cayenne water before having a morning smoothie or juice for better digestion and nutrient absorption.
The recipe is very simple, see below.
Ingredients
- 1 Lemon – 1/2 of lemon per serving.
- ~1/4 tsp Cayenne powder (Or less, or more depending how you like the spiciness) I typically just ‘tap out’ a few sprinkles of cayenne from a spice jar into the glass.
- ~2 to 4 Cups of warm water – 2 cups for one serving 4 cups for 2.
Directions
Heat the water. I just have a pan on my stove and fill it with water, turn the heat to high.
While the water is heating find the lemon. Roll the lemon across the counter top to help with squeezing the juices out. Wash the lemon. Slice the lemon in half and squeeze one half into each glass.
Add a few dashes of cayenne pepper.
Do some dishes or tidy up the kitchen for a minute while the water finishes heating. I heat it to the point where tiny bubbles are starting to form before it starts to boil – then pour the water into the glasses. We should try measuring the temperature next time.
Sip and enjoy.
