It’s pumpkin season… Pumpkins are used in a variety of recipes ranging from soups and hearty meals to delicious pies. Typically the first step to using a pumpkin in any of recipe is to start with cooking it and scraping out the ‘flesh’.
How do you cook a pumpkin? It’s pretty simple…
- Wash the pumpkin
- Cut pumpkin in half
- Scrape out ‘guts’ (save the seeds for another recipe or even planting!)
- Place pumpkins sliced side down in a baking dish and add about ¼” of water
- Cook for 40 to 50 minutes at 350°
- Poke with fork to check of the pumpkin is tender
- When done cooking, remove from oven and scrape out the flesh. It should keep for about 5 days in the refridgerator
